Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, the first lady of Iraq, praised Kurdish nurse Nigar Marf of Sulaymaniyah for being included in the BBC's list of the 100 most influential women in the world for 2022.

Mrs. Marf was welcomed by the First Lady of Iraq on December 10th. She also complimented her for the amazing work she had done in helping female burn victims get the medical care they needed.

Mrs. Ahmed said to Mrs. Marf, "By supporting and offering treatment and spiritual assistance to women, you are fulfilling an essential humanitarian obligation; like a fairy, you create a tranquil embrace for those women who come to the Burn and Reconstructive Surgery Hospital of Sulaymaniyah."

She continued, "It is wonderful that a foreign organization recognizes the value of Kurdish women and introduces them to the world."

Mrs. Marf praised the First Lady of Iraq for welcoming Kurdish women and girls with open arms and for her support.

Nigar Marf, a chief nurse at the Sulaymaniyah Burns Hospital's Burn and Reconstructive Surgery Hospital, provides care and treatment for women with burns.

The BBC's list of the 100 most influential women in the world for 2022 also included Marf and three other Kurdish women, including:

Roza Salih, who immigrated from the Kurdistan Region to Scotland when she was a small girl, made history earlier this month when she was elected as the first refugee to the Glasgow City Council.

Additionally, Iranian Kurdistani Zara Mohammadi is listed among the top 100 women. Mohammadi has devoted more than ten years of her life to teaching the Kurdish language in her hometown of Sanandaj. She was one of the founding members of the Nozhin Social and Cultural Association.

Roya Piray is a Kurd from Iran. The picture of Piray’s vision became viral in September 2022. Her mother, Minoo Majidi, 62, was shot and killed by security personnel while taking part in the Kermanshah protests. Piray boldly looked at the camera as she stood at her mother's grave, her hair in her hands and her head shaved.
