On Sunday, the Kurdistan Coalition reported that Kurdish candidates have been prevented from running their electoral campaigns in many regions in Diyala governorate.
The official spokesman for the Kurdistan Coalition in Diyala, Abbas Mahmoud, told PUKmedia, "some forces and parties in districts of Saadiya, Jalawla and other areas around Diyala governorate are preventing Kurdish candidates from running their electoral campaigns for the upcoming Iraqi elections."
"Not only the Kurdistan Coalition candidates but all Kurdish candidates are being prevented from running their election campaigns," he added, stressing that the Kurdistan Coalition is about to file a complaint about this act to the concerned authority.
For his part, Hassan Biruli, a member of the electoral monitoring team in Diyala, told PUKmedia, "our teams continue to investigate violations, and follow up on complaints and violations recorded during election campaigns."
He stressed that any party that has objections about the elections campaigns can provide evidences to the Independent High Electoral Commission in Diyala Governorate, in order for their case to be investigated.
