The Iraqi Ministry of Justice has released its monthly report on the Juvenile Reform Department, revealing that 181 juveniles were released during June 2026.

In a statement, the Director General of the Juvenile Reform Department, Mohammed Radhi Bahr Al-Sahlani, said the releases comprised 113 juveniles who had been held in detention, 30 who completed their prison terms, and 31 who were granted parole for good conduct after successfully completing approved rehabilitation programmes, following recommendations from the social research divisions and approval by the relevant judicial authorities.

He added that three juveniles were released under the general amnesty law, while a further four were freed following decisions by the Court of Cassation.

Al-Sahlani said the department continues to carry out its responsibilities with professionalism and diligence by carefully reviewing inmates' case files and ensuring that all legal and humanitarian procedures are properly followed during the release process.
