Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received İbrahim Kalın, Director of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT), and his accompanying delegation at Baghdad Palace on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, in the presence of Hamid al-Shatri, head of Iraq's National Intelligence Service.

The meeting focused on the latest regional and international developments, as well as ways to strengthen security and intelligence cooperation between Iraq and Türkiye in a manner that serves the interests of both countries.

President Amedi stressed that dialogue and mutual understanding are essential to containing crises, emphasising the importance of coordinating efforts to address cross-border challenges, safeguard shared security, and promote greater regional stability.

Kalın reaffirmed Türkiye's commitment to maintaining close coordination and cooperation with Iraq across various fields, as well as expanding cooperation between the relevant institutions in the two neighbouring countries.
