Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Tuesday that Iran and the United States will begin a new round of negotiations in Switzerland on Friday aimed at reaching a final agreement, following the entry into force of the interim accord between the two sides.

Speaking at a meeting with foreign diplomats, broadcast on Iranian state television, Araghchi said a new phase of negotiations was expected to begin later this week.

“It is likely that a new round of negotiations between Iran and the United States will begin on Friday to reach a final agreement,” he said.

Araghchi also warned that any Israeli attack on Lebanon, or the continuation of Israel’s military presence on Lebanese territory, would constitute a violation of the interim agreement.

“From our perspective, the parties to this memorandum are the United States and Israel on one side, and Iran and Hezbollah on the other,” he said.

He added that one of the most significant provisions of the memorandum was the declaration of an immediate and permanent end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Araghchi stated that the upcoming negotiations in Switzerland would address a range of issues, noting that discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme would take place during the final stage of negotiations with Washington.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran had agreed never to possess a nuclear weapon, describing the commitment as one of the most important outcomes of the understandings reached between Washington and Tehran.

In a post on the Truth Social platform on Monday, Trump said: "Iran has agreed to never have a Nuclear Weapon! Also, the story that the U.S. is paying Iran 300 million Dollars is Fake News, put out by the Dumocrats!!!"
