PUK Bloc Congratulates New PM and Backs New Government Programme

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) parliamentary bloc in the Iraqi parliament has sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi on the formation of his government.

The statement reads as follows:

We extend our warmest congratulations to Mr Ali Faleh al-Zaidi and the ministers who have secured the confidence of the Iraqi parliament. We wish the new cabinet every success in carrying out its responsibilities.

We affirm that the PUK bloc will support all steps and efforts aimed at building a state founded on citizenship and strong institutions. We are hopeful that the coming period will bring stability and development, while strengthening the principle of teamwork to overcome the challenges of the current phase.

We also wish the government continued success in achieving economic progress and development, and in fulfilling the aspirations of the Iraqi people.
