A delegation representing the majority of Kurdish parties, led by Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, held talks in Baghdad with the Coordination Framework Committee to discuss the latest developments in the formation of Iraq’s new government.

During the meeting, the Kurdish delegation presented its political programme and vision for the upcoming government headed by Ali al-Zaidi, stressing the importance of national partnership and maintaining balance among Iraq’s various communities.

The discussions also focused on the Kurdish component’s share in the new cabinet and the need to ensure fair representation that reflects the Kurds’ political role within the Iraqi state.

The meeting followed the Coordination Framework’s nomination, as the largest bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, of Ali al-Zaidi on 27 April 2026 as its candidate to form the next government, citing his qualifications and ability to manage the current political phase.
