Iraqi Parliament to Debate Key Draft Laws in 23rd Session

The Iraqi parliament is due to convene its 23rd regular session today, Wednesday, to consider a number of draft legislation items.

A parliamentary source told PUKMEDIA that the agenda includes the first reading of the draft Mental Health Law, submitted by the Health, Narcotics Control and Psychotropic Substances Committee.

The source also noted that MPs will begin the first reading of proposed amendments to Labour Law No. 37 of 2015, put forward by the relevant committees covering labour, civil society organisations, public services, youth and sport, culture, and tourism.

In addition, the session will feature the first reading of a draft law to establish the Iraqi University for Security Sciences, presented by the Security and Defence Committee.
