Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), commemorated the International Labour Day, reaffirming commitment to supporting and defending workers’ rights, and to continuing efforts to establish a safe, modern working environment in which social justice is upheld and rights are fully protected.
President Bafel's message for International Labour Day read:
On the occasion of 1 May, International Labour Day, we extend our warmest congratulations to all workers in Kurdistan, Iraq and across the world. We hold in the highest regard their tireless efforts, recognising that their labour remains a principal driver of national development.
Workers are not merely a labour force, but a great and unparalleled national asset. Without their dedication and perseverance, no country can progress. It is therefore our foremost priority to ensure a dignified standard of living for workers and to safeguard their rights and dignity under the law.
We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting and defending workers’ rights, and to continuing our efforts to establish a safe, modern working environment in which social justice is upheld and rights are fully protected.
