The Coordination Framework underscored the need to respect constitutional timelines and affirmed that the final say on ministerial appointments should rest with the Prime Minister.

The bloc held its 274th regular meeting on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, at the office of Dr Abdul-Hussein al-Moussawi, head of the National Approach Alliance, with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani in attendance, to discuss the formation of the expected government.

In a statement, the Framework said participants reviewed the cabinet formation process and the mechanisms for finalising appointments, with the aim of establishing a capable government able to meet current challenges.

The statement reiterated the importance of adhering to constitutional deadlines and leaving the ultimate decision on ministerial selections to the Prime Minister.

It added that leaders stressed the value of partnership and prioritising the public interest, ensuring that appointments are based on integrity, competence and national responsibility. They also highlighted the need for a cohesive government team to address challenges and deliver on the aspirations of all Iraqis.
