Iraqi President: Supporting Judicial Independence and Strengthening the Rule of Law

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, at the Baghdad Palace. Judge Zaidan extended his congratulations to the President on his election, wishing him success in carrying out his national responsibilities.
During the meeting, President Amedi stressed the importance of upholding judicial independence and reinforcing the rule of law in order to safeguard citizens’ rights and ensure justice. He also highlighted the need to further develop judicial institutions and enhance their performance in line with current demands.
President Amedi reaffirmed the Presidency’s support for the judiciary’s efforts, emphasising the importance of coordination between all branches of government to guarantee the fair and transparent application of the law.
For his part, Judge Zaidan expressed his appreciation for the President’s guidance, reaffirming the Council’s commitment to strengthening public confidence in the judiciary and promoting the principles of integrity and justice.
President Amedi Meets U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Reaffirms Commitment to Stronger Bilateral Relations
Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Joshua Harris at Baghdad Palace.
Harris conveyed his country’s congratulations on President Amedi’s election, extending his best wishes for continued success in carrying out his national duties.
President Amedi expressed his sincere appreciation for the congratulations and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation and friendship between Iraq and the United States in a manner that serves mutual interests, supports stability and development, and further strengthens the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The meeting also addressed recent regional developments, with both sides stressing the importance of de-escalation and affirming that dialogue remains the most effective means of resolving crises, thereby enhancing security, stability, and international peace.
