A senior Italian diplomatic and business delegation visited Sulaymaniyah.
A senior Italian diplomatic and business delegation visited Sulaymaniyah on Tuesday, where it is scheduled to meet with local entrepreneurs, businessmen, and investors, aiming to build mutual understanding and partnerships that can lead to future collaboration.
The visit, organised by Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, includes 17 prominent business representatives from Italy.
Aziz Saeed, Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, said in a statement to GK Channel that several foreign delegations have recently visited the Kurdistan Region to explore opportunities for cooperation with Sulaymaniyah’s business community.
“These delegations represent companies and factories in various key sectors. The goal is to build mutual understanding and partnerships that can lead to future collaboration,” Saeed explained.
He added: “Given the security and stability here, investors from around the world can easily visit us. We must demonstrate that Sulaymaniyah has strong industrial and investment capacities — and we are seeing continuous progress in this field. An important meeting with the Italian delegation, organised by Deputy PM Talabani, will take place today following his discussions with them yesterday.”
Saeed highlighted that Sulaymaniyah leads Iraq in industrial development across multiple sectors, making it a key destination for international investment and cooperation.
In a related development, Deputy PM Talabani met recently with a Saudi investors' delegation led by Mohammed Sulaiman Al-Asiri, the Saudi Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance economic relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia and underscored the growing role of the private sector in the Kurdistan Region’s economy — particularly in Sulaymaniyah, which has emerged as a leading centre for economic growth and industrial activity in recent years.
