Iraq Faces Rain, Snow, and Falling Temperatures Over Coming Days

The Iraqi Meteorological Organisation has issued a weather forecast warning of rain, snow, and a significant drop in temperatures beginning on Friday, with the Kurdistan Region expected to be most affected.
According to the forecast, Thursday will generally be clear, though the Kurdistan Region and parts of central Iraq will see increasing cloud cover at night. Light morning fog may form in some open areas before dissipating, with temperatures remaining largely stable across the country. Maximum temperatures on Thursday are projected as follows: Sulaymaniyah 13°C, Duhok 12°C, Nineveh 16°C, Erbil 14°C, Diyala 18°C, Salah al-Din and Anbar 17°C, Baghdad, Karbala, Wasit, Najaf, Muthanna, and Kirkuk 19°C, Babylon 20°C, and Maysan, Diwaniyah, Dhi Qar, and Basra 21°C.
On Friday, skies will become increasingly cloudy, with light to moderate rain expected in the Kurdistan Region and the western parts of the central region during the day. The rainfall is forecast to spread across the rest of the country by night, with heavy rain in mountainous areas of the Kurdistan Region and a chance of light snow. Temperatures in the Kurdistan Region will fall slightly, while central and southern regions remain steady.
Saturday will see persistent cloud cover, with the rain system gradually moving eastwards and overall temperatures dropping by a few degrees. By Sunday, conditions will improve, with partly cloudy skies giving way to clearer weather at night, while temperatures rise slightly in the Kurdistan Region.
Authorities have urged residents and travellers to monitor conditions closely, especially in the Kurdistan Region and mountainous areas, as heavy rainfall and snowfall may affect road safety, transport, and daily activities.
