Iraqi First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed's meeting with Iraqi artists and actors.
Iraqi First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed received on Sunday, 26 October 2025, a group of pioneering Iraqi artists and actors who have enriched the country’s art scene through their distinguished contributions to cinema, theatre, and television at the Baghdad Palace.
During the meeting, the First Lady emphasised the vital role of artists in promoting Iraqi culture and showcasing the nation’s rich heritage and identity. She noted that art serves as a national and cultural message that reflects society’s social and historical realities while fostering understanding and unity among Iraq’s diverse communities.
First Lady Ahmed underscored the importance of supporting local artistic production and encouraging the dubbing of domestic works into Arabic and Kurdish, rather than relying on foreign content that often fails to reflect Iraq’s social and cultural context.
She also urged official and private satellite channels to prioritise broadcasting local productions that portray the true image of Iraqi life and society.
The meeting further discussed proposals to organise field visits and cultural exchanges between governorates to enhance cultural communication and highlight Iraq’s customs, traditions, and folk arts—thereby reinforcing the values of brotherhood and national unity.
The attending artists expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the First Lady for her continued support of art and artists and her commitment to advancing Iraq’s cultural and artistic landscape.
