PUK’s Khailany Hosts Iraqi Social Democratic Movement Leader in Sulaymaniyah

Dara Khailany, member of the Leadership Council and Head of Foreign Relations Department of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Dr Ali Kadhim Aziz al-Rafi’i, Secretary General of the Iraqi Social Democratic Movement, at the Political Bureau headquarters of the PUK in Sulaymaniyah.

The meeting was also attended by Nawzad Mohandis, the PUK’s representative within the alliance of social democratic parties of Arab countries.

The discussions focused on the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, particularly within the framework of the alliance of social democratic parties of Arab countries, of which the PUK is an active and founding member.

They also spoke about the upcoming general congress of the alliance, scheduled to be held in Sulaymaniyah at the end of August. The conference is expected to host many presidents, secretaries, and secretaries-general of social democratic parties from across the Arab world, alongside representatives of member parties from the Progressive Alliance.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the visiting delegation expressed their gratitude to the PUK for its support in securing membership in the alliance of social democratic parties of Arab countries. They also thanked the PUK for its proactive approach in addressing the legitimate issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad.
