Iraq’s State Organisation for Marketing Oil (SOMO) announced that it has completed all preparations to resume oil exports from the Kurdistan Region.

“We have completed all preparations for the re-export of oil from the Kurdistan Region and have signed contracts with oil-buying companies,” said Ali Nizar, SOMO’s Director General.

He added: “All preparations have been finalised, and the re-export of oil now depends on the delivery of crude produced by oil companies operating in the Kurdistan Region.”

On 6 August 2025, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani, during a visit to the North Oil Company in Kirkuk to inaugurate several projects, said: “We are working to reach 600,000 barrels per day of oil production.”

Regarding the Kurdistan Region’s crude, he stated: “We are ready to receive oil and will work seriously to resume exports as soon as possible.”
