A high-level delegation from the U.S.-China Business Council (USCBC) is set to visit China this week and is expected to hold meetings with senior Chinese officials, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on Sunday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The delegation will be led by FedEx Chief Executive Rajesh Subramaniam, who currently chairs the USCBC board. The group is also expected to include senior executives from Boeing and USCBC President Sean Stein, according to the report.

“They are expected to meet with Chinese officials—potentially to revive business discussions,” one source told the SCMP.

The visit comes as both sides continue working toward a potential visit to China by the U.S. President later this year, the report added.

The timing of the delegation’s trip coincides with a fresh round of U.S.-China economic and trade negotiations taking place in Sweden from 27 to 30 July. China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng is leading the Chinese delegation in talks with U.S. officials.

Beijing faces a deadline of 12 August to reach a comprehensive agreement with Washington or risk the imposition of increased U.S. tariffs.
