Gold Surge, Dollar Prices Fall in Iraq

On Tuesday, 22 April 2025, both gold and dollar prices have declined at the start of Iraq's trading market, with the price of an ounce of gold dropping to $3,319. Meanwhile, the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar fell to 144,850 Iraqi dinars for $100.

The local gold prices were as follows:

One mithqal of 24-carat gold: 788,000 Iraqi dinars

One mithqal of 22-carat gold: 723,000 Iraqi dinars

One mithqal of 21-carat gold: 690,000 Iraqi dinars

One mithqal of 18-carat gold: 590,000 Iraqi dinars

Alongside the gold market, foreign currency exchange rates in Iraq also showed notable values at the start of trading.

The current exchange rates are:

$100 = 144,850 Iraqi dinars

€100 = 162,500 Iraqi dinars

£100 = 189,750 Iraqi dinars

$100 = 7,700,000 Iranian Tomans

$100 = 3,800 Turkish Liras

These fluctuations reflect ongoing changes in both the precious metals and currency markets, which are key to understanding Iraq's economic outlook at the start of the week.
