Awat Janab Noori, Minister of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), announced that they have addressed the issue of the Kurdistan Region's civil servant salaries for 2025 and that salary distribution will no longer be delayed.
The KRG's Finance Minister said during a press conference in Baghdad: "In our recent meetings, there has been a very strong understanding between the two ministries of finance of both the KRG and the Iraqi government, and we have been able to put an end to the salary delays for 2025, and this year's salaries will not face delays in any manner."
"The Iraqi Ministry of Finance has decided to send January salaries within the next two days," he stated.
The KRG's high-level finance delegation finally came to an agreement with the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, following several meetings in Baghdad over the last four days to resolve the Kurdistan Region's salary issue.
The Kurdistan Region's civil servant salaries have been facing delays distribution due to outstanding issues between the KRG and the Iraqi government, with the Iraqi government accusing the KRG of failing to meet its obligations to the federal government, while the KRG insists that they have met all obligations and that the shortfall is due to the Iraqi government.
