PUK Spokesperson, Saadi Ahmed Pire.
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is committed to serving the Kurdistan Region through a well-planned project focused on addressing citizens’ needs and initiating substantial changes, particularly within the economic sector. The PUK aims to form a national government dedicated to improving the current situation and prioritising the welfare of the people.
Establishment of a Committee for Dialogue with Political Parties
Saadi Ahmed Pire, Spokesperson for the PUK, stated to PUKMEDIA that the PUK has established a committee to engage with other political parties to discuss the formation of a new government in the Kurdistan Region. The committee, led by QubadTalabani, a member of the Political Bureau, will focus on discussing the PUK’s proposals for the formation of this new government.
"The PUK has its own plan for the formation of the new government and will engage in discussions with other parties about it. It will also consider the proposals put forward by those parties," said Pire.
Commitment to a National Government
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK, reaffirmed during his meetings with foreign ambassadors and his participation in the MERI Forum that the PUK is pursuing a new strategy for government formation. He stressed that the aim is to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past. He outlined the PUK’s goal to establish a national government that serves all citizens equally, with a commitment to fairness, justice, and the equitable distribution of services across all cities and regions.
President Bafel further emphasised that the era of authoritarianism in the Kurdistan Region must end. He declared that government institutions should no longer be exploited for partisan or personal gain. The next government must work solely for the benefit of the people, not any particular political party. President Bafel made it clear that any attempt to undermine this principle would fail, and the PUK will not allow it.
Concrete Plans for Government Formation and Reform
Qubad Talabani, a member of the PUK Political Bureau, also spoke during his meetings with diplomats that the PUK has a clear programme to address existing challenges and better serve the people. He noted that the Kurdistan Region is entering a new phase, and the PUK’s reform plans and vision for government formation are focused on creating a government that is responsible to the people, one that operates with fairness and justice and is based on the principle of true partnership.
He reaffirmed that the PUK is open to collaborating with all those who share this vision and is determined to continue its efforts toward reform and progress.
