Sulaymaniyah Province.
All offices of the "My Account" Project have been shut down in Sulaymaniyah Province.
Nationalisation Preferred Over My Account
Dr. Bryar Rashid, a Representative of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc, told PUKMEDIA that nationalising employee salaries in the Kurdistan Region through federal banks are in line with the Federal Supreme Court's ruling. He stated that salary disbursement through federal banks is much more advantageous than the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) "My Account" Project, as it resolves the longstanding issue of delayed salary payments that has persisted for several years.
Federal Prime Minister Rejects "My Account" Project
Gharib Ahmed, another Representative of the PUK bloc, informed PUKMEDIA that during a recent visit to Diyala Province, the Federal Prime Minister confirmed that the federal government respects the Federal Supreme Court's decision and is dedicated to nationalising salaries in the Kurdistan Region solely through federal banks. He rejected the "My Account" Project, describing it as aligned with a single political party and unrelated to the nationalisation process. He emphasised that the government would not engage with the "My Account" Project in any way.
He added that the PUK bloc is actively cooperating with federal banks to expedite the opening of branches in the Kurdistan Region for salary nationalisation. The bloc respects the Federal Supreme Court's decision and supports the nationalisation of salaries in federal banks.
Ahmed mentioned that a form is currently being distributed to employees in Sulaymaniyah, and they are eager to fill it to facilitate their salary settlement in federal banks such as Rashid, Rafidain, and the Commercial Bank.
Federal Government Will Not Fund Salaries Through Private Banks
A member of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi parliament has confirmed that the federal government is unwilling to deposit the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees in private banks.
Dr. Narmin Marouf, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, stated to PUKMEDIA that although the KRG has begun implementing the "My Account" Project, the federal government has not officially approved it.
Dr. Narmin further explained that according to legal and financial protocols, the Iraqi government will not deposit its funds in private banks, opting instead to transfer the salary allocations to its own affiliated banks.
