The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is implementing a comprehensive plan and programme aimed at ensuring a decent life for all citizens of the Kurdistan Region while working to reduce youth migration abroad.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the PUK, has consistently emphasised the importance of serving the youth and creating job opportunities for them through dedicated programmes and plans that aim to provide a supportive environment.
The PUK Aims for Ending Migration
The PUK is committed to preventing citizens from migrating by implementing targeted and suitable plans and programmes, as it prioritises the well-being of the country and its citizens.
Lajan Mohammed Osman, candidate No. 33 on the PUK list No. 129 for the Erbil constituency, told PUKMEDIA: "The PUK has a comprehensive programme aimed at serving the citizens of the Kurdistan Region. Many citizens are migrating because they feel there is no place for them to thrive and live in this country. We aim to provide opportunities for them to work here and reduce the need to migrate."
"When people reach a point where they can no longer achieve their dreams or live happily in their own country, factors such as ongoing political rivalry, internal crises, and a lack of services drive them to migrate. However, the PUK aims to correct the course of governance, making it crucial to win this election," she added.
PUK is Committed to Provide Job Opportunities
The lack of services and a decent standard of living has driven citizens to migrate. However, the PUK aims to halt this migration by correcting the course of governance and ensuring that people have a decent life along with access to all necessary services.
Lolav Dawd Khalid (Miziri), candidate No. 18 on the PUK list No. 129 for the Duhok constituency, told PUKMEDIA: “The Kurdistan Region is facing numerous challenges, including unemployment, attacks on free opinion, war, poverty, and unpaid salaries. These issues are driving citizens to migrate.”
"If the Kurdistan Region continues in its current state, the situation will become increasingly complicated. With people constantly migrating, any nation experiencing this will see its future weakened. One of the PUK's key objectives is to reduce or eliminate migration by providing services and job opportunities for the youth, which the PUK is committed to achieving," she added.
She also said: "When the PUK held power in the past, the living conditions of the people were peaceful and prosperous. If power returns to the PUK, we can create a more stable life for the citizens by ensuring salaries, providing housing loans, providing marriage loans, and offering small project loans for young people. These measures will enable citizens to create jobs for themselves, helping to reduce migration and discouraging thoughts of leaving the country.”
List 129 of the PUK has dedicated a section in its programme for the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament to youth, students, culture, and the arts. This section outlines several points and objectives that reflect President Bafel's commitment and the PUK leadership's focus on youth. It clearly articulates a plan to create job opportunities for young people across various fields and address the issue of unemployment.
