Qubad Talabani: Anyone with a spotless record is unafraid of accountability

On Thursday, Qubad Talabani, the deputy prime minister, launched a significant initiative named "transparency."

 In a video message posted to his Facebook page, Qubad Talabani discusses a project he calls "transparency," saying that it is a programme for all non-oil earnings received by the provinces of Sulaymaniyah and Halabja as well as the Garmian and Raparin administrations.
 

Everyone can keep track of revenues

"What we are giving is the result of months of consistent work by my team, the minister of finance, and his staff." Qubad Talabani stated: "Transparency is a programme that covers all non-oil incomes of Sulaymaniyah, Halabja, Garmian, and Raparin and is documented every day transparently so that they can be viewed at any time via the website (shafafiat.com).

He further added, "This was done because transparency is the foundation of trust between citizens and any political authority in the world, so it is important for you to know."
 

For more than a year, Sulaymaniyah has been subjected to inappropriate words

“Unfortunately, false and reckless accusations have been claimed against Sulaymaniyah for more than a year. They assert that revenue is not transparent, is invisible, and is withheld. Many odd claims were made against Sulaymaniyah; they claim that bank funds are being stolen, remarked the deputy prime minister.”
 

Sulaymaniyah has taken an important step toward transparency

"We are glad to report that Sulaymaniyah Province has taken a crucial step towards revenue transparency as the first province in the Kurdistan Region and even in Iraq," said Qubad Talabani.

He also added that anyone can access the website to learn more about Sulaymaniyah's revenues.
 

The plans and projects do not stop here

Qubad Talabani added, "Another point that needs to be mentioned is that our plans and projects do not stop here. With the same team and with the assistance of the Minister of Finance, we have started the second step of our project and will publish all the expenditures of Sulaymaniyah with the utmost transparency, so that Kurdistan's citizens can compare the numbers and learn the facts."

Qubad Talabani hopes for the implementation of this project throughout Kurdistan

 "We have implemented this idea in a part of Kurdistan, and we expect that we will do it throughout Kurdistan," he stated.

 "What is important to me is that we show in action that Sulaymaniyah is in trustworthy hands, and with this step, we want to tell everyone that we have nothing to be afraid of or hide."
