Laila Omar, the first woman to become the mayor of Slemani

Laila Omar Ali began her work as mayor of Slemani today, Thursday, and is the first woman to occupy this position.
Laila Omar was born in 1975 and is a reserve member of the leadership council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. On January 31, 2021, she held the position of Deputy Governor of Slemani for Administrative Affairs and was the first woman to occupy this position, and before that, she held the position of Director of the Register Department.
It is noteworthy that since 1980 Slemani held more than 50 people as the mayor of the municipality, but Laila Omar is the first woman to occupy this position in the history of the governorate
