A legal expert confirmed that Article 72 of the constitution approved the nomination of Dr. Barham Ahmed Salih for a second term, and he may nominate himself for a second term.

Legal expert Ali al-Tamimi told PUKmedia, "Dr. Barham Ahmed Salih has different touches from the rest of the presidents and presented what is beneficial for Iraq to the United Nations. Particularly the request to refer the file of administrative and financial corruption in Iraq to the International Court and consider it a crime against humanity, and this was a major step in deterring overrunning the world money."

"There are many legislations implemented by Dr. Barham Salih during his tenure, the most prominent of which is the Special Amnesty Law, which had great humanitarian aspects," he added.

Al-Tamimi explained that Salih carried the characteristics of the departed nation's President Mam Jalal, in converging views, resolving differences and standing in a balanced manner between the various political parties when problems escalated, and when the tensions reached Dr. Barham Salih, he would solve it, and resolve political differences as happened in the law Elections and the enactment of many other laws that were controversy.

"Salih presented many bills to the Council of Representatives, and the best laws were presented during his reign to the council. According to the constitution articles, the President of the Republic has the authority to present laws to the Council of Representatives," he revealed.

The Leadership Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) affirmed on Sunday that they support Barham Salih as PUK's candidate for the post of the President of Iraq.

The Leadership Council of the PUK also confirmed that the position of the President of Iraq is among the entitlements of the Kurds and the PUK, which will not be compromised, and announced in a communiqué issued after its meeting held in the city of Slemani, the nomination of Dr. Barham Ahmed Salih for the position of Presidency of the Republic of Iraq for a second term.
