Iraqi President: The recent bombings in Baghdad target civil peace

Iraq's President Barham Ahmed Salih affirmed that the recent bombings in Baghdad are condemned criminal terrorist acts.
President Salih said in a tweet to him on "Twitter": "The recent bombings in Baghdad are condemned criminal terrorist acts that threaten the security and stability of citizens."
"It comes at a suspicious time targeting civil peace and constitutional entitlements of forming a capable government that will protect the Iraqis and guarantor of the independent national decision," he added.
The United Nations Assistance Mission to Iraq (UNAMI) also denounced the attack.
“We call on the authorities to hold the perpetrators accountable and urge the concerned parties to confront these blatant attempts of destabilization by showing restraint and intensifying dialogue to address the crises in Iraq,” the mission tweeted.
On Sunday night, two explosions rocked the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
PUKmedia reporter in Baghdad said that an explosion targeted a liquor store in the Karrada area, and another explosion targeted the Cihan National Bank.
He revealed that the security forces arrived at the scene of the two explosions and opened two investigations into the incident without knowing the extent of the losses.
A series of attacks have targeted the Iraqi capital since the first parliamentary session was held on January 9.
Iraq's newly elected parliament voted to reinstate Halbousi for his second term as speaker last Sunday but some rival parties opposed the move.
The Federal Court suspended the work of the Council of Representatives' elected Presidency last Thursday. The ruling came after MPs Bassem Khashan and Mahmoud Daoud filed a complaint citing "legal and constitutional violations" in their election.
Following more than 2 months over the recent elections held in Iraq, the country is yet to form a government as political parties have so far been unable to reach understandings.
The party of cleric Muqtada al-Sadr was the largest vote-getter in the Iraqi parliamentary elections.
The country held the elections months ahead of its time. Early elections were one of the demands of the protesters who took to the Iraqi streets in October 2019 to vent their anger and frustration at the government's inability to fight corruption and provide them with security and stability.
