Six people were injured when Kurdish demonstrators stormed the headquarters of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague on Friday, followed by confrontations that also led to the arrest of 50 people, Dutch police announced.
Dozens of people got past security during a protest against Turkey, which they blame for using chemical weapons in the Kurdistan Region.
Some of them managed to enter the lobby of the building before the police drove them out, according to diplomatic sources, while others staged a loud protest in front of the building's facade.
At least ten police vehicles blocked the road in front of the authority's headquarters, opposite the official residence of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and several ambulances and a medical helicopter came to the site.
Two police officers and four protesters were injured when the demonstrators "stormed the building", according to the Hague police.
A police spokesman said that "about 50 demonstrators were arrested and taken to a police station," adding, "We are investigating the events that occurred in the afternoon."
