Not only the Kurdish people, but also the world—including allies and adversaries—know that the PUK has stood behind West Kurdistan like a fortress at every stage of its journey.
In the PUK's view, West Kurdistan is the strategic depth of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
In light of these facts, the PUK not only did not fall under the influence and pressure of both sides, but also participated in support and solidarity with the brothers in West Kurdistan “without interfering in their internal affairs”.
The PUK has a brilliant experience and leadership history in solidarity with our people's liberation movement in other parts of Kurdistan. At the same time, this policy has been enriched by non-interference in their internal affairs.
This policy has a long history and is an extension of the political literature of President Mam Jalal, and the PUK leadership has implemented it in all periods.
Some of the PUK's diplomatic and political efforts and support for West Kurdistan have been largely out of the media spotlight. During PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani's recent visit to the United States, many of the meetings were related to increasing solidarity for West Kurdistan and saving our people from mass killings and mass displacement.
The Kurds in the Middle East are an important part of regional stability and peace. It has done good to the international community in fighting terrorism, especially the threat of al-Qaeda and later ISIS.
In the meantime, the Kurdish people and political forces have made many sacrifices. It is time to protect the achievements and prepare for any unwanted events.
