In today’s world, where information spreads rapidly, populist propaganda media leave a significant impact on society.

These types of media use strategies and policies that create emotional appeal and sentimentality with the masses. By using emotional manipulation and simple, persuasive language—bringing personal stories, social issues, and family struggles closer to audiences—they create a sense of closeness and trust between the media and the people, making the public more receptive to them.

In populist media, identifying and constructing a common enemy is key. This enemy could be an individual, a group, or an opposition political party. The goal is to unify the people’s voice around the message, using fear related to people’s interests and social values. Such media simplify complex public-interest issues and turn major topics—even if simple—into confusing and deep matters for the purpose of generating fear, anger, hopelessness, and devaluing national achievements.

This type of media acts as a deceptive eye and tongue, manipulating public opinion while presenting itself as the defender of the people, yet empowering dark forces and authorities behind the scenes in a calculated direction.

Populist and polarised media become a tool of power rather than monitoring it, replacing the ideal role of the “fourth estate.” This creates one of the greatest threats to society, democracy, and a free press.

Because of this, it is crucial for citizens to be able to find the truth and make sound decisions. Populist media attempt to dominate public issues and influence public opinion, striving to strengthen their own narrative, suppress different viewpoints, ignore or undermine them, and attack specific regions, sides, or individuals.

Therefore, individuals in today’s society must pay close attention to the information, policies, and strategies connected to how populist media operate, so they can remain aware, critical, and discerning about the accuracy and depth of information—ensuring they do not become victims of misinformation or deceptive narratives.
