The Head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's (PUK) Elections Bureau emphasised the significance of the census procedure in Kirkuk, Khanaqin, and all Kurdish areas located outside the Kurdistan Region. He noted that the fate of Kirkuk and the Kurdistani regions depends on the Iraqi census.

"We urge everyone to take part in the census to safeguard the authentic Kurdish identity of these areas, as it directly impacts the livelihoods and future of their population," Rizgar Haji Hama, Head of PUK's Elections Bureau, told a press conference.

He further said that Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the PUK, is giving special attention to this matter and has directed everyone to work diligently on it. Rizgar Haji Hama also emphasised that registering families in the general census is crucial for ensuring the rights of citizens in these areas.

"Participation in the census will help protect the rights of citizens and their families within their local administrations, which are set to take place on November 20, 2024," he added.
