PUK congratulates HDP's new presidency

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) congratulated the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) on the occasion of holding its fifth congress.

Amin Baba Sheikh, a member of PUK's Political Bureau and Head of the Bureau of Relations, congratulated HDP's new presidency and for holding its fifth congress, hoping that the results would be a basis for understanding and finding a mutual agreement to overcome obstacles and solve the Kurdish issue in Turkey.

Regarding the position of PUK to solve the problems, Amin Baba Sheikh stressed that PUK supports all opportunities for stability, the spirit of coexistence, and the revival of the region.

On Sunday, the HDP concluded its fifth congress to elect new leadership in the presence of 400 organizations and political and party figures and with the participation of 50,000 members, while the right to vote was granted to 1,050 party members.

The congress was launched in the Arna Gymnasium in the city of Ankara. 

Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar were re-elected as co-chairs with 797 votes. 

The HDP is generally left-wing and places a strong emphasis on participatory and radical democracy, feminism, LGBT rights, minority rights, youth rights, and egalitarianism. 

A member of the Central Committee of the Kurdish Left Party in Syria described the Fifth Congress of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) as successful in light of Turkish threats to invade north and east Syria. read more
