Qubad Talabani expresses support for Iraqi women's futsal team

Qubad Talabani received Iraqi women's futsal team in Erbil and congratulated them on their recent win in the West Asian Championship.

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), wrote on his official Facebook page, "It was a pleasure to welcome the Iraqi girls futsal team to Erbil today. I congratulated them on their recent win in the West Asian Championship, and promised to provide them with the support they deserve. We hope and expect them to win more titles and championships."

He added, "The success of the Iraqi players and their appearance in regional forums is a source of pride for us, that encourages generations to achieve across all professions in the Kurdistan Region and across the whole of Iraq."

The Iraq women’s futsal team won the West Asian Women’s Championship by beating the hosts 4-2 in the final match.

Nine of the 14 players of the Iraqi squad are Kurds, including the championship’s top goal scorer, Shokhan Salihi, who scored seven goals throughout the tournament.

The WAFF Futsal Championship is an international futsal competition organized by the West Asian Football Federation.
