Under the title "Art Garden", the city of Slemani recalled the historical legend of the Shameran snake at the Azadi Park on Saturday.

Artist Bakhtiar Saeed told PUKmedia that a French organization organized the activity on the occasion of Kurdistan Environment Day.

The activity included a statue that represented an old Kurdish legend which is a snake that is half human and the other half is a snake that loved peace and nature.

Several artists and Art Institute students participated in the event.

Theatrical teacher Media Rauf told PUKmedia: "The old Kurdish legend remains alive despite the thousands of years that have passed. People have a history and struggle and also have legends that represent their past, and today we recalled with a group of young people, this legend out of love for the humanitarian position of this snake, which was a symbol of loyalty, love for nature, singing, and music."

According to narrations, the legendary Shameran snake rescued a woodcutter who fell into a well of honey among a number of snakes, but the Shameran snake saved him on the condition that he does not reveal her secret to anyone, but unfortunately, the woodcutter did not fulfill his promise and Shameran was killed.
