Rewaz Faiq affirms support to press freedom

The Speaker of Kurdistan Parliament, Dr. Rewaz Faiq, met on Tuesday with journalists from Metro Center and affirmed support to their demands.
During the meeting, they discussed press freedom in the Kurdistan Region, and the visiting delegation presented a report on freedom of press expression in the Kurdistan Region during the past year 2021 to the Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament.
In this regard, the visiting delegation expressed their appreciation and thanks to Dr. Rewaz Faiq for her continuous support for journalists and freedom of expression.
For her part, Dr. Rewaz Faeq praised the efforts of journalists at the Metro Center, stressing the importance of independent journalism and protection of press laws.
"We in the Parliament of Kurdistan support the journalists' demands within our constitutional limits," she said, calling on the journalists not to violate the public freedoms in the Kurdistan Region to follow journalistic ethics and standards.
