On Tuesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) controlled new parts inside al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah city northeast Syria.

The prison holds thousands of the Islamic State (ISIS) inmates who engaged in a riot following a prison break attempt Thursday by ISIS sleeper cells to break their ISIS fellow militants out from the prison.

The SDF Media Center announced eight dormitories inside the al-Sina’a prison were re-controlled.

“Our SDF controlled a block of buildings consisting of eight dormitories inside the al-Sina’a prison, al-Hasakah,” the SDF Media Center said.

The combing operation by the SDF is ongoing, the Media Center added.

North Press reported that the SDF freed more captives (prison staff) from ISIS grips after liberating nine employees earlier on Tuesday.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the SDF said 250 ISIS  mercenaries were compelled to surrender as the SDF conducted precise raids to the facility where ISIS inmates holed up in.

The new number brings total toll of ISIS members who turned themselves in to the SDF to 550 as 300 surrendered yesterday.

Cautious calm, intermittent by gunshots, continued in the vicinity of al-Sina’a prison following the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) stormed other neighborhoods in the city after foreigners and suspect activities reported in the city.
