Qubad Talabani stresses his commitment to ensuring rights of people with disabilities

Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, sent a message on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, stressing his commitment to ensuring all their rights.

"On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I extend my warmest greetings and reiterate my enthusiasm for building a developed future in which the disabled will play an important role as any other individual in the community," Qubad Talabani said.

"On this occasion, I ask you to do your utmost to overcome the obstacles that prevent you from achieving your goals," he added.

Talabani continued, "we in the government need to work harder to eliminate any injustice and discrimination that this important class of the community face and to ensure all their rights, including health care, education, work and etc..."

International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. It has been observed with varying degrees of success around the planet. 

The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
