Bafel Jalal Talabani calls for further cooperation between Peshmarga, Iraqi, Coalition forces

On Monday, Bafel Jalal Talabani received in Dabashan, Mark Bryson, the British Ambassador to Iraq, and David Hunt, the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed comprehensively the political, economic and security developments, the post-election situation, efforts to form the new government and the repercussions of political instability.

Bafel Jalal Talabani wished Mark Bryson success in performing his new duties as Britain's new Ambassador to Iraq, and affirmed PUK's support for the success of his missions and the development of relations between the two sides, expressing his appreciations for the support and assistance provided by Britain to the people of Kurdistan and the Peshmarga forces.

Bafel Jalal Talabani claimed that "the political situation that Iraq is going through is a source of concern to us, and the disputes leads the country towards more instability; However, now we have a good opportunity to use our differences to service the public, and we all can work toward a constructive dialogue on the mechanism of forming a government that can meet the demands of citizens."

On the security risks and the activities of the remnants of the terrorist organization ISIS and the security vacuum that exist in some areas, Bafel Jalal Talabani said, "the political conflicts is making the security situation worse. Therefore, In order to face the challenges, joint coordination between the Peshmerga forces, the army and the coalition forces must be done, and joint plans and strategies should be developed to confront terrorism."
