A member of Iraq's Parliamentary Finance Committee said on Tuesday that the Deputy PM of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Qubad Talabani's efforts in Baghdad have brought good to the people of Kurdistan.

"The continuous efforts of Qubad Talabani within the framework of KRG’s negotiating delegation sent to Baghdad and his dialogues with Iraqi officials regarding the budget file and the rights of the people of Kurdistan, have made part of the Iraqi parties change their views towards the Kurdistan Region," Shirwan Mirza, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, told PUKmedia.

"It also prompted them to not standing in the way of establishing the rights of the people of Kurdistan," he added.

"Solving the salary problem will have a direct or indirect impact on businessmen and trade exchange," Mirza said.

Disputes between KRG and the Iraqi government have led to the suspension of the Kurdistan Region's share within the Iraqi budget for years.

However, the KRG has reached an agreement with the Iraqi government earlier this year on the Region's share which is mainly used for employees' salaries.

The negotiating delegation of the KRG was headed by Qubad Talabani who made many visits to Baghdad until an agreement was reached.

The member of the Finance Committee also emphasized, that "if the Kurdistan Coalition gets the largest number of seats in the Iraqi parliament, it will be a support for the negotiating delegation to Baghdad, especially if the delegation is headed by Qubad Talabani, who will achieve more successes and gains for the Kurdistan Region.

The PUK and Gorran formed the Kurdistan Coalition list last May. The coalition is headed by Qubad Talabani, who is currently the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Iraq will hold elections on October 10, ahead of schedule. Early elections were one of the demands of the protesters who took to the Iraqi streets in October 2019 to vent their anger and frustration at the government's inability to fight corruption and provide them with security and stability.
